Ordnance Survey have packaged together a comprehensive and definitive set of digital boundaries for the administrative and electoral areas of Great Britain.

Boundary-Line^TM  and GB Boundary-Map^TM

Boundary-Line provides the definitive set of administrative and electoral boundaries for Great Britain from district, wards and civil parishes (or communities) up to parliamentary, assembly and European constituencies.

Boundary information is updated twice a year in May and October.  Available in Shapefile, MID/MIF or MapInfo format.

The Wendover Group also offer GB Boundary-Map, which is derived from Boundary-Line and with the following value-added features:

• Boundaries are provided both in nested format (i.e. all sub-boundaries included) and layered, so that separate map layers are available for each boundary type.

• Boundaries are provided both separately for England, Scotland and Wales, and also aggregated to provide “GB” boundary layers which include data from all three countries of Great Britain

• GB boundaries are provided both in their original “detailed” form, with separate map objects for each geographic area (e.g. the boundary for Scotland has 2,794 separate map objects or polygons including all the Scottish islands), and also merged to provide one map object for each boundary.

• Label names are provided for the GB boundaries, allowing more concise labelleing of boundaries for improved map presentation.
