Following publication of the aims and guidelines of the NHS low-carbon strategy, “Saving Carbon, Improving Health”, The Wendover Group are pleased to be able to offer the NHS Mileage Calculator, a low-cost tool which will greatly assist the practical tasks of measurement and monitoring of travel mileage.

At its most simple, this desktop tool enables users to upload paired lists of postcodes representing journeys made: origin postcodes for patient, visitor or staff addresses; and destination postcodes of the surgery, hospital or other destination. Many thousands of postcode pairs can be analysed at one time. The output provides the road mileage, as well as estimated travel time for private travel, which can then be summed and analysed as required. An optional extension is under development to allow mileage by specific forms of public transport to be calculated.

To accommodate all needs, the functionality of the NHS Mileage Calculator is also available as a service directly from The Wendover Group.
