Automating sales territory design can help you take some of the guesswork out of territory planning.

Balancing workloads is complex because it involves a trade-off between the time spent on-site with a client, the value of the accounts and the time required to travel to each customer.

Starting from a list of customer addresses, prospects or franchises we will:

  • clean and geocode all destinations, which will allow you to map them
  • work out a destination specific weighting based on time spent on site, value of the accounts and/or other criteria
  • create a traveltime matrix between destinations and/or between all destinations and the addresses of your sales staff

Using our territory planning algorithms, we can then:

  • assign all destinations optimally to each sales person's address, or
  • search for optimal origins in the destinations file and assign, given the number of territories you require

The outputs we can create for you include:

  • a coded list of all customers and prospects allocated to a sales territory
  • a digital map of sales territories built up from postal sectors or any geography you prefer

Each territory will be balanced in terms of value and traveltime, will be geographically contiguous and will optimise the efficiency of the team as a whole.
